Demands for Justice Rise After Bihar NEET Students Death

New Delhi, February 8: The suspicious death of a NEET student from Bihar has sparked a surge in demands for accountability and justice. On Sunday, students and social activists organized a large protest at Jantar Mantar in the capital, Delhi.

This incident has not only shaken the student community but has also raised serious questions about student safety, administrative negligence, and institutional responsibility.

Carrying placards and chanting slogans, protesters called for a swift, fair, and transparent investigation into the case. They urged for strict action against the culprits, emphasizing that such incidents reveal deep flaws within the education system.

Protesters expressed that the increasing pressure, lack of mental support, and administrative negligence make students preparing for competitive exams feel unsafe.

The demonstration saw participation from civil society members, various student organizations, and political party representatives. Protesters noted that incidents related to students preparing for NEET, IIT, and other competitive exams are becoming more frequent, leading to rising anger within society. They warned that if concrete steps are not taken promptly, the situation could worsen.

In an interview, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Mahabal Mishra demanded decisive action from the government. He stated that the government should immediately identify the culprits and ensure they face severe punishment, so no student or girl has to endure such injustice in the future.

He emphasized that delays in justice erode public trust and embolden criminals.

One protester accused the authorities of attempting to suppress the tragic incident of rape and murder in Patna, describing it as deeply saddening and shameful. He highlighted that the victim’s parents are forced to wander from place to place seeking justice, while the police and administration seem to be undermining the seriousness of the case.

The protester launched a sharp attack on the government, claiming that the NDA government has become so arrogant that accountability has vanished. He noted that while a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed, no concrete conclusions have emerged thus far. He demanded a swift resolution to ensure justice for the victim.

Teacher Dhruv Kumar Rai also expressed deep concern over the matter. He stated that any crime against a woman is a direct assault on her dignity, and what has transpired in this case is a source of shame for society as a whole. He and other educators insist that the culprits must receive a punishment that sets a strong precedent and curbs such heinous crimes in the future.
