New Delhi, February 8: The air quality in the national capital, Delhi, showed a slight improvement on Sunday morning. However, pollution remains a significant concern in many areas of the city.

According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board, the average Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was recorded at 196 at 7 AM, falling into the ‘moderate’ category. This marks an improvement from Saturday, when the AQI reached 227 at 4 PM, categorizing it as ‘poor’. Despite the slight decrease in pollution levels, light haze persisted in several areas, indicating that air quality is still not fully satisfactory.

Pollution levels remain high in various parts of Delhi. Mundka reported the worst conditions, with an AQI of 266. Following Mundka, Pusa recorded an AQI of 257, while Narela and Rohini both reported 247. In ITO, the AQI was 223, while Chandni Chowk recorded 232. In contrast, Aya Nagar (151), IGI Airport Terminal-3 (138), and Pusa (157) maintained ‘moderate’ air quality levels.

According to government standards, an AQI of 0 to 50 is considered good, 51 to 100 satisfactory, 101 to 200 moderate, 201 to 300 poor, 301 to 400 very poor, and 401 to 500 is classified as severe.

In terms of weather, the India Meteorological Department has forecasted a maximum temperature of 23 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 10 degrees Celsius for Sunday. The department also indicated that light haze may persist in some parts of the city, potentially affecting visibility and air quality.
