Controversy Erupts Over Netflix Film Ghooskhore Pandit

Mumbai, February 6: Netflix’s upcoming film ‘Ghooskhore Pandit‘ has sparked significant controversy ahead of its release. Allegations have surfaced that the film’s title offends religious and caste sentiments, particularly among the Brahmin community and organizations associated with Sanatan Dharma.

The situation has escalated to include political statements, outrage from religious leaders, and administrative actions. Central Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, and various religious groups have expressed their reactions to the controversy.

In a Facebook post, Minister Singh strongly objected to the film’s title, calling it highly unfortunate. He stated, “The film ‘Ghooskhore Pandit‘ attempts to hurt the sentiments of the Brahmin community. The casteist and offensive language used in the title and its portrayal is completely condemnable. Such content undermines the fabric of society.”

He fully supported the actions taken by the Lucknow police under the direction of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Singh further added, “I condemn this in the strongest terms. The actions of the Lucknow police regarding this matter, as directed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, are entirely justified.”

Meanwhile, there is deep anger among religious leaders regarding the film. Saints from Vrindavan have demanded a complete ban on the film, expressing their concerns.

Speaking to reporters, the saints stated, “This film aims to belittle Sanatan Dharma, and there has been a continuous assault on it under a specific mindset for a long time. Religious symbols and communities have been presented controversially before, and now Brahmins are being targeted through this film.”

They emphasized, “Historically, Brahmins have been held in high regard within Sanatan Dharma. Kings and emperors valued their knowledge and counsel, playing a crucial role in guiding society. However, some individuals today deliberately portray Brahmins negatively. Producers and actors choose such controversial titles merely to stay in the spotlight.”

The saints further remarked, “In every significant ritual and ceremony, whether birth or death, the role of a Pandit is central. Therefore, using the word ‘Pandit’ alongside ‘Ghooskhore’ in the film’s title is an insult to the entire community. It is unacceptable to tarnish any community’s image in the name of entertainment.”

They have urged the government to impose an immediate ban on the film and take strict action against its producers.
