New Delhi, February 8: Pankaj Chaudhary, the President of the Uttar Pradesh BJP, expressed gratitude to the central government on Sunday for taking swift action against the controversial film “Ghuskhor Pandit.” The film’s title has been deemed offensive to the sentiments of the Brahmin community.
Directed by Neeraj Pandey, the film stars Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role.
In a message on social media, Chaudhary stated that the title “Corrupt Pandit” undermines the reputation, respect, and collective sentiments of the Brahmin community. He urged the central government to intervene and remove the objectionable title immediately.
Chaudhary praised the central government for prioritizing social harmony and public sentiment, noting that they promptly ordered the removal of the film’s teaser and all promotional materials. He expressed heartfelt gratitude for the acceptance of their just and fact-based demand.
He further emphasized that the Brahmin community has always played a pivotal role as carriers of knowledge, scholarship, culture, and moral values.
He highlighted that their sacrifices, penance, and intellectual contributions in preserving the Vedas, scriptures, and eternal traditions have been respected and honored by society for centuries.
Earlier, in light of the criticism surrounding the film’s title, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the Hazratganj police in Lucknow to file an FIR against it.
According to the Lucknow police, strict action was taken following allegations of disturbing social harmony and hurting religious and caste sentiments.
The police reported that there is significant anger and outrage within the Brahmin community and various social organizations due to the film’s name and content. These organizations have also threatened aggressive protests against the film.
The police added that, considering the seriousness of the matter, legal action and investigations are ongoing. Under a zero-tolerance policy, strict measures will be enforced against anyone intending to hurt the sentiments of any community or disrupt peace.
