Constable Found Dead in Purnia Police Quarters

Purnia, February 5: A constable was found dead inside the guard quarters of the Amour police station in Purnia district, Bihar, on Wednesday. The cause of death has not yet been determined.

The deceased constable has been identified as Almanath Bhuiyan, a resident of Gaya district.

Initial reports indicate that the constable suffered a gunshot wound to the neck. A carbine and a spent cartridge were recovered from the scene, raising the severity of the incident and prompting a thorough investigation.

The incident occurred around 10 AM. According to police, a staff member from the police canteen went to deliver breakfast to the constable’s room. Upon finding the door ajar, the staff member looked inside and discovered the constable lying in a pool of blood.

The staff member immediately raised the alarm, and other officers quickly arrived at the scene.

Upon receiving the information, Amour police station chief and SDPO Jitendra Kumar Pandey also arrived. The area was promptly sealed off, and a forensic team along with a dog squad was called in to begin the investigation.

Police sources revealed that the constable had spoken with his wife on the phone around 8 AM, and there was nothing unusual in their conversation.

Authorities have clarified that it is too early to determine whether this was a suicide or a homicide. All angles are being investigated.

The constable’s family has been notified, and relatives from Gaya are en route to Purnia. An autopsy is underway, and the results are awaited.

Police officials stated that conclusions regarding the incident will be drawn only after the autopsy and forensic reports are received. An officer mentioned that these reports will clarify whether it was a suicide or a murder.
