Congress Criticizes Assam CM Over Controversial Video

New Delhi, February 8: The Congress party has launched a strong attack on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma regarding a controversial video. Congress claims that the video, shared from the official social media account of the Assam BJP, glorifies the targeted “point-blank” killings of minorities.

In a post on the official social media platform ‘X’, Congress stated, “The official Assam state handle of the BJP has posted a video. This is extremely disgusting and disturbing. It cannot be dismissed as random troll content. It is an open call for widespread violence and genocide. This reveals the true face of a fascist government that has nurtured this hatred for decades and tried to normalize it over the past 11 years.”

The party emphasized that given the seriousness of the situation, strict action should be taken against this act of spreading unrest and poison in society.

Congress also expressed skepticism about expecting condemnation or accountability from the Prime Minister regarding this incident. However, they urged the judiciary to intervene decisively. The post read, “Congress condemns this act and urges the judiciary to take stringent action against such open calls for violence that threaten peace and foster social enmity.”

Congress leader K.C. Venugopal also criticized the BJP over the alleged video. In a post on ‘X’, he wrote, “A video posted by an official BJP social media account is nothing but incitement to genocide. This is a dream that this fascist government has been nurturing for decades.”

He added that this is not a trivial video that can be ignored as troll content. The poison is being spread from the top, and those responsible should be punished. Venugopal stated, “There is no hope that the center will condemn this or take action, but the judiciary must act and show no leniency in this matter.”
