Chinas Rural E-Commerce Set for Significant Growth by 2025

Beijing, February 7: According to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, projections based on big data monitoring indicate that by 2025, rural online retail sales and agricultural product online retail sales in the country will reach 30 trillion yuan and 783.1 billion yuan, respectively. This represents an increase of 6.7% and 9.9% compared to 2024.

Consumption of goods and services continues to rise. In 2025, under a subsidy program for replacing old household appliances with new ones and purchasing mobile phones, a total of 48.23 million devices were sold, valued at 158.6 billion yuan.

Third-party big data monitoring shows that during the same period, county-level service sales reached 9.1 trillion yuan, reflecting a 5.9% increase from 2024.

rural e-commerce is expanding rapidly. In 2025, major e-commerce platforms conducted over 4 million live streaming sessions to support farmers, with sales of special agricultural products exceeding 10 billion units and daily shipments surpassing 20 million units.

The logistics network continues to improve. In 2025, support was provided for the establishment of 348 county-level logistics distribution centers and 562 town-level courier logistics stations. Currently, the coverage rate of county-level logistics distribution centers has reached 100% nationwide.
