Celebrating Bhairav Ashtami and Janaki Jayanti on February 8

New Delhi, February 8: On February 9, the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Phalguna will be observed, lasting until midnight. This day marks three significant religious festivals: Bhairav Ashtami, Janaki Jayanti, and the monthly Krishna Janmashtami. Devotees engage in special prayers, fasting, and night vigils during these occasions.

Bhairav Ashtami, also known as Kalashtami, is celebrated every month on the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva’s fierce form, Kal Bhairav. Devotees observe fasts and perform rituals seeking protection, liberation from negativity, and removal of obstacles.

February 8 also marks Janaki Jayanti, celebrating the birth of Mother Sita, which is also referred to as Sita Ashtami. Additionally, it coincides with the monthly Krishna Janmashtami, highlighted in sacred texts like the Skanda Purana, Padma Purana, and Narada Purana. Devotees worship Laddu Gopal, sing hymns, and participate in vigils to attain happiness, peace, and blessings.

According to the Drik Panchang, the Vishakha Nakshatra will prevail until midnight on Monday. The auspicious Yoga of Vridhi will last until 12:52 AM on February 10. The Karan of Balav will be in effect until 6:12 PM, followed by Kaulav until midnight. The Moon will transit through Libra. Sunrise is at 7:04 AM, and sunset will occur at 6:07 PM.

For auspicious timings, Brahma Muhurta is from 5:21 AM to 6:12 AM. Abhijit Muhurta is from 12:13 PM to 12:58 PM. Vijay Muhurta is from 2:26 PM to 3:10 PM, while the twilight period (Ghodhuli Muhurta) is from 6:04 PM to 6:30 PM. Amrit Kaal will be observed from 10:04 PM to 11:51 PM.

In terms of inauspicious times, Rahukal will be from 8:27 AM to 9:50 AM, Yamagand from 11:13 AM to 12:35 PM, and Gulika Kaal from 1:58 PM to 3:21 PM. Adal Yoga will be present throughout the day, during which auspicious activities are discouraged.
