Bareilly, February 4: A political controversy continues to brew over the trailer of the film ‘Godaan.’ In this context, Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi, President of the All India Muslim Jamaat, has urged both the central and state governments, led by Yogi Adityanath, to declare the cow as the national animal.
This statement comes shortly after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath unveiled the film’s poster at his residence. In an interview in Bareilly, Razvi remarked that the cow has been a contentious issue throughout history, from the Mughal era to British colonial times and even post-independence. He appealed to Chief Minister Adityanath and the Indian government to make this declaration to help resolve ongoing disputes surrounding the cow.
Razvi also encouraged Muslims to care for cows, nurture them, and utilize their milk.
The film ‘Godaan,’ dedicated to cow protection, has been in the spotlight since its poster release. It is set to hit theaters on February 6. On January 31, the film’s producer-director met with Chief Minister Yogi.
‘Godaan’ is based on the role of the cow in Indian culture, where it is revered as a mother and a deity. Lord Krishna also imparted knowledge on the protection of dharma and cows in the Gita. Chief Minister Yogi has emphasized cow protection in the state, leading to a ban on several illegal slaughterhouses since he took office. The film conveys a message of cow protection, which is why its makers sought a meeting with the Chief Minister.
In addition to Yogi Adityanath, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also launched the film’s trailer, stating that ‘Godaan’ is the first film dedicated to the glory of the cow. The film, releasing on February 6, highlights the significance of the cow in Indian culture and aims to inspire the younger generation to participate in cow conservation efforts.
