Kolkata, February 9: Leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have sharply criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her opposition to the Special Investigation Report (SIR) process in West Bengal. They accused her of being eager to conduct elections with a flawed voter list.
West Bengal BJP President and MP, Samik Bhattacharya, stated, “The Trinamool Congress is trying to completely eliminate the SIR process in the state. This is their agenda. They are desperate to hold elections with a voter list full of errors.”
He added, “Currently, the situation in Bengal is alarming. Just today, a councilor near Kolkata kicked someone to death, which has sparked significant discussion. Since the 2021 elections, 56 BJP workers have been murdered, and 27 women have been gang-raped. Despite ongoing CBI investigations, the police are busy destroying evidence.”
BJP leader Dilip Ghosh also targeted Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding the petition filed against the SIR in the Supreme Court. Speaking to reporters, Ghosh remarked, “If Mamata Banerjee is so confident that she will win the case, she should proceed. But what is the need for such drama?”
He pointed out that the government loses every time it approaches the Supreme Court because it appeals without any substantial basis. Cases against Mamata Banerjee’s government are being heard in every court, as they fail to deliver justice or make decisions. This forces people to seek legal recourse.
Ghosh accused the ruling party in West Bengal of targeting women, opposition workers, and the Hindu community. He stated that the Hindu community is being targeted, forcing them to migrate from Murshidabad to Malda for safety.
He concluded, “In the villages of Bengal, women are being subjected to atrocities, and opposition party workers are being harassed. Even police officers are involved in lowering BJP flags at our events. The TMC and police are working together.”
