Assam Chief Minister to Unveil Major Political Nexus Today

New Delhi, February 8: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will hold a press conference today, where he is expected to reveal details about a significant political nexus involving Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi.

Ahead of the Assam Assembly elections, Sarma has launched a fierce political attack on the alleged agreement between Congress and the Raijor Dal, led by Akhil Gogoi. He stated that the opposition alliance has no future in the state.

While inaugurating new school buildings on Monday, Sarma informed reporters that today’s press conference will go beyond previous allegations linking Gaurav Gogoi to Pakistan, presenting the public with a comprehensive overview of the entire network involved. He claimed that the revelations made during this press conference would have substantial political implications.

In response to reports of a Congress-Raijor Dal alliance, the Chief Minister remarked that opposition leaders might form a government elsewhere, but they have no prospects in Assam.

Sarma mocked Raijor Dal leader Akhil Gogoi, asserting that he would not be able to establish a government in Assam even in 500 years. He also accused Gaurav Gogoi, Akhil Gogoi, and the president of the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP), Lurinjyoti Gogoi, of attempting to mount a joint political counterattack following a press conference on Sunday.

According to the Chief Minister, these efforts are merely attempts to shield themselves from the upcoming disclosures by the BJP. He sent a stern message to opposition leaders, stating that now is the right time for Akhil Gogoi and Lurinjyoti Gogoi to negotiate seat-sharing, as their political significance will diminish after February 8.

He stated, “They should take advantage of their political position while they can, because circumstances will change after February 8.”

Sarma’s statements have intensified the political atmosphere in Assam. As the Assembly elections draw near, political rhetoric in the state is becoming increasingly heated.
