
Itanagar, February 4: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lieutenant General (Retired) KT Parnaik stated on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s visionary thinking and the continuous support from the central government are the greatest strengths driving the state’s transformation and development. He made these remarks while addressing the fifth session of the eighth assembly.
The Governor highlighted the Prime Minister’s visit to Itanagar on September 22, 2025, where he inaugurated Development Projects worth over ₹5,100 crores. Parnaik noted that this visit reflects the central government’s strong and focused commitment to the development of Arunachal Pradesh.
He also described the launch of the ‘GST Savings Festival’ as a significant step towards transparent and citizen-friendly Governance, which will strengthen the business environment in the state.
Since 2014, Arunachal Pradesh has received over ₹1 lakh crores from central taxes, showcasing a robust partnership between the center and the state, laying the foundation for a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable future.
The assembly meeting, following the golden jubilee, was seen as an opportunity to honor the proud heritage and maintain the dignity of the house. He emphasized that this is the time to further strengthen responsible and people-centered governance.
Sharing the government’s vision of a ‘Developed Arunachal Pradesh,’ Parnaik stated that the first meeting of the year symbolizes confidence and purposeful thinking for the state. It is a moment to review the progress made so far and reaffirm the commitment to creating a self-reliant and prosperous Arunachal in line with the national goal of a ‘Developed India.’
He stressed the importance of empowering youth through education and employment, providing women with opportunities to lead social and economic change, and ensuring that the benefits of development reach every community. He advocated for embracing the spirit of ‘development and heritage’ to advance cultural heritage alongside modern progress.
Parnaik described the ‘Panch Pratigyas’ announced by the government under Chief Minister Pema Khandu as a clear roadmap for ‘Developed Arunachal and Developed India 2047.’ These include placing youth and human resources at the center of development, strengthening rural self-reliance and livelihoods, promoting balanced development with nature, advancing green energy and hydropower transformation, and fostering sustainable tourism while preserving identity.
He noted that the recent local self-governance elections reflect growing public trust in democratic institutions. The Governor emphasized a micro-development approach, investing in infrastructure and connectivity centered around communities to ensure opportunities reach the people.
Parnaik highlighted the importance of supporting artisans, farmers, and the rural economy, promoting green energy, strengthening a cultural economy based on indigenous traditions, ensuring good governance, public safety, and a strong institutional framework as the foundation for a resilient, inclusive, and future-oriented Arunachal Pradesh.
