
Mumbai, March 6: Team India has secured its place in the final of the T20 World Cup 2026. On Thursday, at the Wankhede Stadium, the Indian team triumphed over England by 7 runs in the second semi-final. Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated the team on reaching the finals for the fourth time. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari also commended the team’s performance.
In a post on his social media account ‘X’, Home Minister Amit Shah stated, “The Indian team has made it to the final of the T20 World Cup. Congratulations to the team for their magnificent victory in the semi-final. The dedication and hard work shown by our players in this match were truly remarkable. Best wishes to the team for the final.”
Nitin Gadkari also took to ‘X’ to express, “Congratulations to Team India for their stunning victory over England and securing a place in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 final. Your unwavering determination, teamwork, and fearless performance have filled the entire nation with pride. Best of luck to our champions for the final. We hope you lift the trophy and create another historic moment for India.”
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu congratulated the Indian team for reaching the finals, saying, “What a match! The outstanding innings by Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube, along with the brilliant bowling from Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya, and Axar Patel’s impressive fielding, showcased the entire team’s performance in this thrilling game. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “East or West, India is the best. The players delivered an outstanding performance. Let’s repeat history, let’s defeat history.” Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar shared on his account, “Runs, partnerships, and strike rates can be measured, but the true measure is intent. I loved their positive attitude with the bat and their calmness in the field. This mindset is essential in knockout cricket. It was fantastic to see Sanju Samson maintain his form and find his rhythm early in this match! Now, all eyes are on the final.”
Celebrations erupted across the country as Team India’s achievement was announced. Fans waved flags, set off fireworks, and played drums in the streets. A college student celebrating outside the stadium said, “I can’t believe it. My heart was in my mouth during the last three overs. But when Bumrah bowled those yorkers, we knew India would pull through.”
One fan wrapped in the Indian flag admitted, “Bethel scared us for a moment, but when Pandya took out Karan, the entire stadium erupted. I’ve never heard Wankhede so loud.”
