Patna, February 8: The Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, has made serious allegations against the Trinamool Congress (TMC) regarding the Special Intensive Review (SIR) of the voter list. He claims that the TMC is providing protection to illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, particularly Muslim migrants.
Adhikari pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent speech in the Rajya Sabha highlighted how certain individuals are going to court to protect these immigrants, which he believes harms the nation. He emphasized that the SIR is not a new issue; it has been conducted nine times previously, with eight instances occurring before.
He accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee‘s government of shielding immigrants and a specific community, asserting that her actions are driven by appeasement Politics rather than national interest. Adhikari claimed that illegal activities are being encouraged in the state, posing a threat to national security.
He further stated that a change is imminent in West Bengal, predicting the establishment of a Sanatani government and a nationalist administration. Adhikari expressed confidence that the support previously given to extremist elements by the so-called radical government will no longer continue. He believes that the era of appeasement politics will end, paving the way for the establishment of Sanatan values in West Bengal. He is optimistic about witnessing a strong, nationalist government that prioritizes public welfare in the near future.
Meanwhile, BJP State President Samik Bhattacharya commented on the SIR, stating, “Everyone has the right to fill out Form 7, but Mamata’s heart is big, and her stance is clear. Those who have passed away were someone’s parents or loved ones. Why remove them? If you look at the human aspect, they shouldn’t be excluded. India is not a dharamshala where anyone can enter at will. Our agenda is clear—detect, deport, and delete. In contrast, Mamata Banerjee‘s agenda involves entering elections with Rohingyas and fake voters.”
