Affordable Medicines Bring Relief to Patients in Ranchi

Ranchi, February 8: The Prime Minister’s Indian Public Medicine Center (PMBJK) is an ambitious welfare initiative by the Government of India. Its primary goal is to provide affordable and quality medicines to the general public. In this context, the public medicine center located near RIMS (Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences) in Ranchi is proving to be a significant relief for poor and middle-class patients.

Patients and their families visiting RIMS for treatment report that the generic medicines available here are 50 to 90 percent cheaper than branded drugs found in the market, significantly reducing overall treatment costs.

The center offers essential medications for common ailments, as well as for serious conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and heart diseases. Additionally, various surgical supplies are available at reasonable prices. Patients express satisfaction with the quality of the medicines. Amid rising treatment costs, this center has emerged as a crucial support for economically weaker sections of society. Many people commend this initiative as a commendable effort by the government, openly praising the benefits it provides.

Lal Prasad, who came to purchase medicines, shared with a news agency that he found high-quality medicines at very low prices at the Indian Public Medicine Center. He mentioned that he was able to get all necessary medicines for just ₹78 and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Another buyer, Amar Lal Prasad, noted that the medicines at the public medicine center are significantly cheaper compared to those in the open market. He stated that this was his first visit to the center, and he was very satisfied with the prices and the overall arrangement.

Dev Uraw, who also visited the center for medicines, shared his experience, stating that the prices are very affordable. He explained that if he had purchased the same medicines from the market, it would have been much more expensive, as he got three medicines for just ₹62 at the public medicine center.

Jaydeep, the operator of the Prime Minister’s Indian Public Medicine Center, mentioned that almost all medicines prescribed in OPD are available at the center, although some specific OT-related medicines are not. He emphasized that obtaining medicines from the public medicine center leads to significant savings on long-term treatment costs. He highlighted the improved quality of medicines, stating that this initiative is proving to be extremely beneficial for the welfare of the poor.

It is noteworthy that around 1,500 underprivileged patients visit the OPD at RIMS hospital in Ranchi daily for consultations.
