Patna, March 5: The political landscape in Bihar is buzzing following Chief Minister Nitish Kumar‘s decision to join the Rajya Sabha. Speculations are rife about who will take over the reins of the state once Kumar becomes a member of the upper house. Union Minister Giriraj Singh has reassured the public, stating there is no need for concern. He emphasized that the next Chief Minister will be appointed under Nitish Kumar‘s leadership.
Bihar is set to hold elections for five Rajya Sabha seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is contesting for two seats, while Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) is also fielding candidates for two seats. One seat has been allocated to the Rashtriya Loktantrik Morcha (RLM).
In a conversation in Patna, Giriraj Singh remarked that Nitish Kumar is voluntarily moving to the Rajya Sabha. He stated that whoever becomes the Chief Minister will do so under Kumar’s guidance. Three years ago, Kumar expressed his desire to join the Rajya Sabha, but he was unable to do so due to impending elections. Singh clarified that no one can send Kumar against his will; he is making this decision on his own. The government will continue to operate according to his wishes.
Giriraj Singh also commented on the BJP’s national president, Nitin Nabin, being nominated as a Rajya Sabha candidate from Bihar, calling it a fortunate development for the state. He expressed pride in having a national leader representing Bihar in the Rajya Sabha.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar confirmed his intention to join the Rajya Sabha via a post. He expressed gratitude for the trust and support he has received over the past two decades, which has enabled him to serve Bihar diligently. Kumar noted that it has always been his aspiration to be a member of both houses of the Bihar Legislative Assembly and the Parliament. He is keen on becoming a Rajya Sabha member in the upcoming elections.
