World Cup Match in New Delhi: Traffic Diversions Expected

New Delhi, March 1: The T20 World Cup 2026 will feature a match between South Africa and Zimbabwe on Sunday. This highly anticipated game is set to take place at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi, running from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Due to the expected influx of spectators, special traffic arrangements will be in effect from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM to ensure safety and convenience for the public.

In light of these arrangements, the police administration has announced traffic diversions and restrictions around the stadium and its vicinity. Traffic will be redirected as necessary on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and JLN Marg. Heavy vehicles will be prohibited from entering Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg from Daryaganj and from Guru Nanak Chowk to Asaf Ali Road. It is advised to avoid these roads during the spectator movement hours.

Additionally, travelers heading to and from New Delhi Railway Station should plan their journeys in advance, considering potential heavy traffic on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and ITO Chowk. The JLN Marg route (from Rajghat to Delhi Gate and Kamla Market Roundabout), Asaf Ali Road (from Turkman Gate to Delhi Gate), and Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg (from Delhi Gate to Ramcharan Agarwal Chowk) will be affected.

South Africa has already secured a spot in the semifinals, having won both of their Super-8 matches. They defeated India by 76 runs in their first match and then triumphed over the West Indies by 9 wickets in their second.

On the other hand, Zimbabwe has been eliminated from semifinal contention and will aim to finish the tournament on a high note. Notably, Zimbabwe has never recorded a victory against South Africa in T20 format.
