New Delhi, February 25: Amitabh Kant, former CEO of NITI Aayog, emphasized on Tuesday that the real benefits of artificial intelligence (AI) will only be realized when it becomes multilingual. This means AI must be capable of understanding and communicating in various languages, including local and international ones.
Speaking to the media during the launch of his book “Smarter than the Storm,” the former G20 Sherpa noted that India aims to lead in emerging technologies in the future.
A key focus of the book is the role of AI and emerging technologies in shaping future-ready economies and governance systems.
Kant stated, “It is crucial to align AI with renewable energy or modular systems that include solar, wind, and clean energy. Additionally, adaptation is necessary. Proper guidance on software can enhance its efficiency.”
Co-author Siddharth Sinha mentioned that the Indian government is democratizing access to computing and datasets through the India AI Mission.
The recently concluded “India AI Impact Summit” has also positioned the country on the global AI map.
During the book launch, he remarked, “Innovations that will address social sector challenges and bring about change will emerge from the grassroots level.”
Sinha further explained that AI can be utilized for various tasks, from predicting floods and wildfires to enhancing the efficiency of data centers and monitoring forest fires. However, he also noted that AI leaves a distinct mark in terms of energy consumption.
The book presents a visionary framework for decision-makers operating in an increasingly uncertain global environment.
It brings together insights on climate change action, AI-based innovations, governance reforms, and economic strategies, making it essential reading for BUSINESS leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and change-makers.
