Jammu, February 22: In a significant operation in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, joint forces have eliminated a top commander and another terrorist from the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) group.
The White Knight Corps, based in Nagrota, reported on ‘X’ that “two terrorists have been killed.” The operation, named Trashi-1, was initiated based on reliable intelligence from Jammu and Kashmir Police, international intelligence agencies, and local sources to locate and neutralize active terrorists in the region.
The forces, including the CIF Delta of the White Knight Corps, engaged in a renewed confrontation with the terrorists in a remote area around 11:00 AM on Sunday, in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF. The soldiers successfully neutralized two terrorists at the encounter site and recovered a significant cache of weapons, including two AK-47 rifles.
The army has stated that the search is ongoing, emphasizing that those attempting to disrupt peace will find no refuge. An army official confirmed that a top commander of Jaish-e-Mohammed was killed in the encounter involving a joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police, two Para units of the army, and CRPF. The body of the deceased terrorist is currently being recovered.
This marks the second such incident in the area this month, following an earlier confrontation on February 4 in the same dense forest region. Over the past year, more than a dozen encounters have occurred between security forces and terrorists in the Chhatru area of Kishtwar.
It is believed that a group of foreign terrorists is active in this region, frequently shifting their base between Kishtwar, Doda, and Udhampur districts. The army, along with Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF, is relentlessly pursuing this group of Pakistani terrorists, which has led them to move from one location to another rather than attacking security forces.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has issued clear orders to neutralize Pakistani terrorists in the hilly districts of the Jammu region. During his last visit to Jammu on February 7, he called for a mission-mode approach to restore complete peace in the Union Territory.
