Balodabazar, February 15: A shocking murder case has emerged from the village of Dadhakhar in the Balodabazar district of Chhattisgarh. A 55-year-old man, Itwari Ram Pakra, was brutally killed due to a longstanding feud related to the Panchayat elections and allegations of not voting.
The accused, Naresh Pakra, struck the victim multiple times on the head with a wooden stick. During the incident, he also threatened witnesses, which delayed the case from coming to light for an extended period.
The incident traces back to April 7, 2025, when Itwari Ram Pakra was admitted to the district hospital in Balodabazar with severe head injuries. He succumbed to his injuries on April 8, 2025. Initially, it appeared to be a minor injury, but the post-mortem report revealed that the death resulted from serious blows with a solid object. Consequently, a murder case was registered at the Kasdol police station.
During the investigation, police conducted a thorough examination of the crime scene and questioned the victim’s family and villagers. Initially, witnesses were hesitant to speak out due to fear. It later emerged that the accused had threatened them after the incident.
The police discovered that there was a longstanding rivalry between Naresh Pakra and Itwari Ram Pakra, which escalated into a dispute over voting during the Panchayat elections, leading to the fatal attack.
Based on all the evidence and witness statements, the police arrested Naresh Pakra. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime, stating that he acted out of anger and rivalry while intimidating witnesses.
Authorities have assured that they will present a strong case in court and will make every effort to ensure the perpetrator receives a harsh punishment. Villagers expressed that if the dispute had been resolved earlier, this tragic incident could have been avoided.
