Jaipur, February 14: Four soldiers were injured when an army truck overturned near the Dangawas-Medta border on National Highway-58 in Nagaur district, Rajasthan, on Saturday afternoon. Among the injured, two soldiers are in serious condition and have been referred to Ajmer for further treatment.
The accident occurred around 2 PM as the military vehicle was traveling from Bikaner to Jabalpur, passing through Nagaur and Ajmer.
According to police, the truck lost control and overturned after the driver suddenly applied the brakes. All four injured soldiers were taken to the Medta sub-district hospital, where doctors provided immediate medical assistance.
Two soldiers, identified as Rute Singh and Pushpendra Singh, were later referred to Ajmer due to severe injuries, while the other two sustained minor injuries.
Medta police inspector Dharmesh Dayama stated that a police team arrived at the scene promptly after receiving news of the accident to initiate rescue operations and an investigation.
The injured driver reported to the police that he lost control of the truck due to the sudden braking, leading to the accident.
Authorities have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
Every year, thousands of lives are lost in road accidents, with many others sustaining injuries, some of which are severe.
Experts indicate that speeding, reckless overtaking, driving under the influence of alcohol, and fatigue are major causes of accidents, according to traffic police data. Poorly lit roads, broken signs, and irregular intersections, especially at night, further increase risks.
Delays in emergency response in remote areas and a lack of trauma care facilities often exacerbate the situation.
Officials have intensified investigations, installed speed cameras, and launched awareness campaigns, but compliance remains inconsistent. Experts emphasize that strict enforcement, better road design, and responsible driving are equally crucial to reducing fatalities.
