
Los Angeles, February 14: A tragic plane crash in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, has resulted in the deaths of at least three individuals, according to initial reports from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced via X that it is investigating the incident. The crash involved a small aircraft, the Epic Aircraft E-1000, which is a single-engine, six-seat turboprop plane. The accident occurred around 12:20 AM local time near Emerald Mountain. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear.
Routt County Sheriff Doug Scherar stated that efforts are ongoing to identify the deceased and notify their families.
In a separate incident, a small jet crash in Statesville, North Carolina, claimed the lives of seven people. According to police, this accident occurred at a regional airport.
Among the victims were former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, his wife, and their two children. The FAA reported that a Cessna C-550 jet crashed while attempting to land at approximately 10:20 AM Eastern Time on Thursday, resulting in a significant fire.
Flight tracking website FlightAware indicated that the aircraft took off shortly after 10 AM but later attempted to return for a landing.
Video footage captured rescue teams rushing toward the runway, where the wreckage was engulfed in flames.
John Ferguson, the manager of Statesville Regional Airport, informed reporters that the FAA has taken over the crash site investigation. He noted that the airport will remain closed until further notice, as debris removal and runway safety assessments will take some time.
