Uttarakhand Advances to Ranji Trophy Semifinals After Defeating Jharkhand

Jamshedpur, February 9: Uttarakhand has secured a spot in the semifinals of the Ranji Trophy Elite 2025-26 by defeating Jharkhand in the quarterfinals. The match, held at Keenan Stadium, ended with Uttarakhand winning by an innings and 6 runs. They will now face Karnataka in the semifinals, scheduled to take place on February 15.

In the first innings, Jharkhand, having lost the toss, batted first and scored 235 runs. Aditya Singh was the standout performer, scoring 83 runs with 11 boundaries, while captain Virat Singh contributed 47 runs with 5 boundaries.

For Uttarakhand, Janmejay Joshi was the leading wicket-taker, claiming 4 wickets, while Aditya Rawat and Mayank Mishra each took 3 wickets.

In response, Uttarakhand posted a total of 371 runs in their first innings. Jagdish Suchit scored 70 runs with 6 fours, while captain Kunal Chandel added 68 runs and Avneesh Sudha contributed 64 runs. From the Jharkhand side, Jatin Pandey, Sahil Raj, Saurabh Shekhar, and Aditya Singh each took 2 wickets.

Uttarakhand had a significant lead of 136 runs after the first innings. Jharkhand’s second innings collapsed for just 130 runs in 41.1 overs. Captain Virat Singh managed to score 55 runs off 87 balls, including 1 six and 6 fours, while Kumar Kushagra added 34 runs. The remaining batsmen failed to reach double figures.

Mayank Mishra was the star bowler for Uttarakhand in the second innings, taking 5 wickets for just 22 runs, while Abhay Negi claimed 4 wickets and Aditya Rawat took 1 wicket.

In other quarterfinal matches, Jammu and Kashmir triumphed over Madhya Pradesh by 56 runs and will face either Andhra Pradesh or Bengal in the semifinals. Meanwhile, Karnataka advanced to the semifinals by defeating Mumbai by 4 wickets.
