Patna, February 8: independent MP Rajesh Ranjan, popularly known as Pappu Yadav, was transferred to Beur Jail from Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) on Monday under tight security.
Yadav was arrested by Patna police late Friday night in connection with a 31-year-old case, following a dramatic scene at his residence in Mandiri, Patna. He was presented in court on Saturday, where he was remanded to two days of judicial custody.
Reports indicate that after his health improved, he was moved to Beur Jail on Sunday. According to PMCH, he was handed over to the police after a health check-up on Monday. The next hearing in this case is scheduled for today.
The arrest stemmed from a property attachment warrant issued by the court due to Yadav’s repeated absences during hearings. Following his arrest, he was taken to IGIMS and then shifted to PMCH the next day. Tensions flared between his supporters and police during his removal from the residence. On Saturday, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed against Yadav and 20 unidentified individuals for obstructing government work.
This case is linked to a fraud dispute registered at the Gardanibagh police station in 1995. The complainant, Vinod Bihari Lal, alleged that Yadav deceitfully took over his property for office use. Lal claimed that his home was rented under false pretenses and later used as Yadav’s office, a fact he alleges was concealed during the agreement.
