Modi Concludes Successful Malaysia Visit, Strengthens Business Ties

Kuala Lumpur, February 8: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his two-day visit to Malaysia on Sunday. During his visit, he engaged with four prominent Malaysian business leaders and praised the growing business-to-business (B2B) connections between the two nations, highlighting Malaysian companies’ keen interest in India’s growth story.

Additionally, the Prime Minister encouraged Malaysian businesses to explore opportunities in India, particularly in sectors such as infrastructure, renewable energy, digital technology, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and healthcare.

According to an official statement, PM Modi met with Tengku Muhammad Taufik, President and Group CEO of Petronas; Dato’ Seri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun, Founder of Berjaya Corporation Berhad; Dato’ Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir, Managing Director of Khazanah Nasional Berhad; and Dato’ Pua Khein-Seng, Founder of FPG Group.

The statement further noted that PM Modi referenced recent initiatives and reforms aimed at enhancing the ease of doing business in India, creating a stable, efficient, and predictable business environment.

On Saturday, the Prime Minister commended the 10th India-Malaysia CEO Forum held in Kuala Lumpur, expressing hope that the discussions would deepen trade and investment relations between India and Malaysia.

The statement read, “Business leaders praised the reforms undertaken by the Indian government towards building a developed India and expressed full confidence in India’s growth story.”

PM Modi and his Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim strongly condemned all forms of cross-border terrorism. Both leaders called for international cooperation to combat terrorism with a zero-tolerance approach and emphasized the need for sustained efforts against it.

The two countries agreed to collaborate on combating radicalism and violent extremism, addressing the funding of terrorism, and exchanging best practices while building capacity.
