Enforcement Task Force Reports 336 Violations in Delhi

New Delhi, February 8: The Enforcement Task Force of the Commission for air quality management reported 336 violations in the fortnight leading up to February 4. Among these, 34 violations were from the construction and demolition sector, 229 from industrial areas, and 5 related to diesel generator sets, as disclosed by an official on Saturday.

During its 125th meeting on Friday, the task force revealed that from January 20 to February 4, they conducted a total of 739 inspections. This included 52 inspections in the construction and demolition sector, 680 in industrial areas, and 7 related to diesel generator set violations.

Additionally, the task force proposed shutting down 21 polluting industries, sealed 53 diesel generator sets, and issued notices to two units. Currently, 63 reports are under investigation.

The meeting reviewed the inspection results from flying squads focusing on major pollution sources, including industries, road dust, construction activities, diesel generator sets, and municipal waste and biomass burning.

Special inspections for road dust were conducted in Greater Noida on January 23 and in Gurugram on February 5, assessing mechanical sweeping, water spraying, and compliance with dust control regulations.

The findings from these inspections were thoroughly reviewed, and relevant agencies were instructed to ensure strict adherence to road dust control regulations, especially during peak hours and evenings.

The task force also evaluated the nature and extent of significant violations found in industrial units, overseeing actions such as closures and sealing of diesel generator sets.

The performance of inspection teams was assessed, emphasizing consistency, coverage, and timely reporting of violations. According to the data, flying squads have inspected a total of 25,975 units, projects, and entities to date.

Based on these inspections, orders were issued to close 1,661 units. Of these, 1,278 units were allowed to resume operations upon confirming compliance with regulations.
