Beijing, February 7: On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Arab countries, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit gave an exclusive interview to China Media Group.
Having visited China multiple times and witnessed its rapid development, he remarked, “The growth and transformation of China are unprecedented and hard to believe. This is due to the leadership of China and the entire Chinese populace.”
He emphasized that the friendship between China and Arab nations is “strong, close, and inspiring,” stating, “China never interferes in the internal affairs of other countries, nor does it impose unilateral demands in cooperative relationships. Our friendship is based on equality and a commitment to working together.”
As anticipation builds for the upcoming second China-Arab Summit, he expressed hope that more leaders from China and Arab nations will gather. He stated, “I hope that cooperation in economic and political fields will lead to long-term and sustainable development between China and Arab countries.”
In recent years, under the strategic guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Arab leaders, practical cooperation between China and Arab nations has deepened. In 2004, mutual trade between China and Arab countries was only $46 billion. By 2025, this figure is projected to reach approximately $409 billion, nearly ten times greater. This clearly demonstrates the mutual benefits of economic and trade cooperation for both China and Arab nations.
