Sonipat, February 7: The Sonipat crime Branch has dismantled a significant drug trafficking syndicate led by a woman. Radha Devi, a resident of Himachal Pradesh, and her accomplice Naresh were apprehended with two and a half kilograms of charas. The estimated market value of the seized charas is around 800,000 rupees.
This operation was based on intelligence reports indicating that Radha Devi was en route to Sonipat to supply charas.
Jitendra Hooda, in charge of the Crime Branch, stated that the team received a tip-off about Radha Devi’s arrival in Sonipat with her associate Naresh to distribute drugs. Swift action led to their capture, and during the search, two and a half kilograms of charas were recovered. Both suspects are now in police custody, undergoing intensive interrogation. Authorities believe this could lead to significant revelations about other members of the syndicate and its network.
Radha Devi’s background is alarming. Police investigations revealed that her father was also involved in drug trafficking, but he has since passed away. Her husband is currently serving a sentence for drug trafficking in a Punjab jail. Influenced by her family’s history, Radha Devi established her own drug trafficking syndicate, lured by the prospect of substantial earnings. She was known to supply drugs between Haryana and Punjab, utilizing public transport to evade detection.
Haryana police has been intensifying its crackdown on drug traffickers. In recent months, several large drug hauls have been seized in the Sonipat and Kundli areas, but this arrest of a female leader is particularly noteworthy. Authorities have stated that they will also tighten their grip on other traffickers associated with Radha Devi’s syndicate. Operations based on confidential information have been accelerated to eradicate the drug mafia in the state.
Local residents and social organizations have praised the police for this success. They have called for stringent penalties against such traffickers to protect the youth from drug abuse. This case highlights the increasing role of women in drug trafficking and the impact of familial backgrounds. The police have assured that strict legal action will be taken against both accused after the investigation is complete.
