India Clinches U-19 World Cup Title with Dominant Win Over England

Harare, February 6: India triumphed over England by 100 runs in the final of the U-19 World Cup 2026, held at Harare Sports Club on Friday. England’s captain, Thomas Rev, praised Indian opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi, stating that his team’s strategy faltered while he was at the crease.

After the match, Rev remarked, “When a player is in such form, it makes the contest very challenging. He has shown us what he can do before. Honestly, we were a bit taken aback. When Suryavanshi got going on a good pitch, we struggled to figure out where to bowl.”

Rev elaborated on his team’s game plan, saying, “We had prepared well. The plan was to keep fielders in the ring, bowl as much as possible at the stumps, and utilize our variations. This approach had worked for us against India before, but today was Suryavanshi’s day; he deserves all the credit.”

He also commended his batsmen, stating, “Our batsmen made a strong effort. Caleb played a fantastic innings, and Dockins contributed some runs as well. We didn’t reach the target, but we had a good time.”

On Friday, India won the toss and opted to bat first, scoring 411 runs for the loss of 9 wickets, thanks to Suryavanshi’s stellar performance. He scored 175 runs off 80 balls, hitting 15 fours and 15 sixes. Captain Ayush MhatrĂ© also chipped in with 53 runs.

In response, England was bowled out for just 311 runs in 40.2 overs. Caleb Faulkner was the standout performer for England, scoring 115 runs off 67 balls, while Ben Dockins added 66 runs to the total.
