China Celebrates Lunar New Year with Diplomatic Reception

Beijing, February 6: The Chinese Foreign Ministry hosted a reception in the capital, Beijing, to celebrate the Year of the Chinese New Year 2026. Approximately 500 representatives from various Chinese departments, along with ambassadors from different countries stationed in China and representatives from international organizations, attended the event.

In his address, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that in 2025, China adhered to a moral path in its foreign policy. Under the guidance of President Xi Jinping, China commemorated the 80th anniversary of the Chinese people’s resistance against Japanese aggression and the global anti-fascist war, sending a strong message of peace and justice. China has clearly opposed unilateral protectionism and effectively defended the multilateral trading system.

According to Wang Yi, China actively promoted conflict resolution and the peaceful settlement of disputes, seeking solutions to both root causes and symptoms. Notably, the Global Governance initiative presented by President Xi Jinping has illuminated the path forward for the world at a critical moment in global order development. China remains steadfast in maintaining international fairness and justice, and its commitment to building a community with a shared future for humanity is unwavering. In this tumultuous world, China consistently provides rare certainty and showcases invaluable creativity, which is increasingly understood and accepted by the international community.

Wang Yi further stated that in the new year, China will work alongside all progressive forces worldwide to safeguard peace and the rule of law, promote openness and development, address crises and challenges, and deepen understanding and friendship, contributing anew to the creation of a better world.

During the reception, Martin Mpana, the head of the foreign ambassadors’ group and the ambassador of Cameroon, extended New Year wishes to the Chinese people on behalf of the ambassadorial group. Mpana noted that China’s diplomatic achievements in 2025 have been remarkable. President Xi Jinping has introduced a global governance initiative of significant importance for world peace and development, showcasing a vision for global well-being. Various countries are eager to enhance cooperation with China to achieve more substantial results.
