Political Tensions Rise Outside Parliament Amid EVM Controversy

New Delhi, February 6: Political rhetoric outside Parliament has intensified once again. Members of the BJP and opposition parties exchanged accusations regarding the Gandhi family, the Prime Minister’s dignity, the history of Congress, parliamentary proceedings, and electronic voting machines (EVMs).

BJP MP Shashank Mani Tripathi commented on the ‘Gandhi family,’ stating that there is no doubt about Mahatma Gandhi’s greatness. He noted that Feroze Gandhi was a leader and MP of Congress, but the Gandhi family attempts to associate themselves with him to claim the legacy of Gandhi.

Tripathi also expressed his displeasure over the language used against Prime Minister Modi. He emphasized that the Prime Minister is a respected and esteemed individual, deserving of dignified language in the country. He condemned the use of personal attacks against any individual.

Targeting Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the BJP MP accused him of speaking the language of appeasement Politics. He referenced Congress’s century-long history, acknowledging significant reforms during Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel’s time, but criticized the Nehru family for adopting a Western lifestyle and mindset, which later became synonymous with Congress.

On the other hand, Congress MP Ujjwal Raman Singh made serious allegations against the BJP regarding the Lok Sabha proceedings. He claimed that the government is not responding in the Lok Sabha and questioned whether the country would forgive such conduct.

Singh alleged that the entire session is being wasted to prevent the Leader of the Opposition and the entire opposition from speaking. He raised concerns about the nature of the Parliament and the diminishing standards of parliamentary decorum. Singh accused the BJP of undermining the dignity of Parliament and shirking its responsibilities.

Highlighting Congress’s contributions, Singh stated that the party’s role before independence cannot be forgotten. It is recorded on every page of history and will always be remembered. Those who sacrificed for the country, left comforts behind, and endured harsh imprisonment will continue to be honored by Congress.

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress MP Shatabdi Roy raised serious questions about EVMs. She pointed out various discrepancies, citing instances where names appeared incorrectly and the information displayed after software downloads was inaccurate.

Roy asserted that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and party MP Abhishek Banerjee have been stating from day one that the EVM software is malfunctioning and has some mysterious issues. She claimed that recent developments have validated their concerns.
