Controversy Surrounds Shahid Kapoors Film O Romeo Ahead of Release

Mumbai, February 6: The upcoming release of Shahid Kapoor and Tripti Dimri’s film ‘O Romeo‘ on February 13 is facing significant controversy following Manoj Bajpayee’s film ‘Ghooskhore Pandit.’

Hussain Ustara’s daughter has filed a petition in court seeking to halt the film’s release. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for today.

Sanobar Sheikh, daughter of Hussain Ustara Sheikh, claims that the film’s trailer misrepresents her father, portraying him as a madman and gangster. She argues that the film could cause “irreparable harm” to her and her children.

She further stated that her father contributed to crime prevention across India, particularly in Mumbai, assisting police and intelligence agencies in tackling criminals. However, she believes the film attempts to depict him inaccurately.

In her court petition, Sanobar Sheikh asserts that the film is based on her father’s biography and aims to portray his life in a gangster-like manner.

She has lodged complaints against the film’s director, Vishal Bhardwaj, and journalist-author Hussain Zaidi at the police station. Notably, the film is inspired by Zaidi’s book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai,’ with Shahid Kapoor’s character drawing from Hussain Ustara Sheikh. However, both Bhardwaj and Zaidi have clarified that the film is not a biography of Hussain Ustara Sheikh but rather an artistic story inspired by elements of his life, with fictional characters.

In a recent interview, Hussain Zaidi explained that while the film is not entirely based on Hussain Ustara Sheikh’s life, it is partially inspired by it, woven into a narrative through Bhardwaj’s artistic vision.
