Amaravati, February 6: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed his gratitude to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Friday. He stated that Gadkari’s continuous support in enhancing the National Highway network is steering the state’s development in a positive direction.
In a post on his social media account, Naidu thanked Gadkari for his efforts in improving and developing the NH network in Andhra Pradesh. He also expressed happiness over the focus on connectivity for existing and upcoming greenfield ports. Notably, the connectivity project linking the Machilipatnam Port is expected to significantly connect the state’s interior regions to the port, thereby reducing logistics costs. Naidu assured that the state government would provide full support for the swift completion of National Highway projects in Andhra Pradesh.
Earlier, on Thursday, Minister Nitin Gadkari shared updates on his social media account. He announced the approval of ₹573.77 crores for the construction of a six-lane external port connectivity road that links NH-65 and NH-216 via the Machilipatnam bypass section. Gadkari mentioned that this project would facilitate a direct and easy connection between Machilipatnam Port and the National Highway corridor, reducing freight transport time, alleviating traffic congestion, and enhancing overall logistics capacity.
The approved work includes a six-lane main road, service road, three flyovers, and one overpass-cum-railway overbridge (ROB). This will significantly strengthen the connectivity between the port and the main highway, boosting commercial activities. Gadkari also noted that this project would promote development and investment in the state’s interior regions.
