Mumbai, February 6: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam has criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, likening his behavior to that of a naive child. In a conversation in Mumbai, Nirupam expressed concerns over Gandhi’s apparent lack of understanding in his role as the Leader of the Opposition. He emphasized that this position carries significant weight, as the country closely observes the comments and criticisms made by the person holding it. The Leader of the Opposition represents the voice and thoughts of the opposition.
Nirupam noted that in recent days, Gandhi has been undermining national security by referencing an unpublished book. He highlighted an incident in which Gandhi referred to Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu as a “traitor” within the Parliament premises. This raises questions about Gandhi’s suitability for the position of Leader of the Opposition, as his behavior appears reckless and dangerous for the nation. He urged Congress leaders to reflect on their actions, suggesting they are harming not only their party but the country as well.
He also pointed out that when the Lok Sabha proceedings are disrupted, the Rajya Sabha continues its work, and vice versa. The operations of both houses are independent. However, Nirupam criticized Mallikarjun Kharge for attempting to influence Rajya Sabha proceedings based on Lok Sabha activities, which he believes violates Parliamentary Procedures and established rules.
Regarding the controversy surrounding the film titled “Corrupt Pandit,” Nirupam remarked that the title could be shocking and provoke anger. He acknowledged that corruption is a serious issue, particularly within police and government sectors, warranting cinematic exploration. However, he cautioned that targeting specific castes, communities, or religions in such films diverts attention from the main issue and risks defaming those groups. It is crucial to ensure that no one’s sentiments are hurt in the process.
