Tacoma, February 6: The China Media Group (CMG) hosted the “Spring Festival Gala Prelude” event at Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Washington. Approximately 500 attendees, including Chinese Consul General Chang Qianmin from San Francisco and Tacoma Mayor Anders Ibsen, participated in this special program, marking the launch of CMG’s overseas celebrations for the Spring Festival Gala.
During the event, CMG Director General Shan Haixiong and Chinese Ambassador to the U.S. Xie Feng delivered video speeches. In his address, Shan emphasized that this event has been held for three consecutive years, allowing more Americans to experience Chinese culture through the celebration of the Lunar New Year and the Spring Festival Gala. He expressed hope that people from both nations would work together to build a bright future for China-U.S. relations and promote the creation of a community with a shared future for humanity.
Ambassador Xie Feng, in his video speech, highlighted that the Spring Festival, as the most significant traditional festival for the Chinese nation, symbolizes the return of spring, the melting of snow and ice, and the revival of all things. At this delicate juncture, despite rising temperatures, both new opportunities and challenges exist for the development of China-U.S. Relations. He stressed the importance of understanding the direction of these relations under the guidance of the leaders of both countries, managing differences and disagreements appropriately to overcome obstacles, and actively expanding mutually beneficial cooperation. Strengthening friendly exchanges between the peoples of both nations will bring freshness to China-U.S. relations in the New Year and help find a path for proper coordination in the new era.
Mayor Anders Ibsen, present at the event, remarked on the deep friendship Tacoma has established with China over recent years. He noted that friendly exchanges between Tacoma and China have enhanced local business and economic cooperation, deepened cultural exchanges, and promoted various youth projects. He expressed gratitude for CMG’s organization of the “Spring Festival Gala Prelude” at Lincoln High School and hoped for broader exchanges and cooperation between Tacoma and more Chinese cities.
The event featured a promotional video for CMG’s “Spring Festival Gala” (Year of the Horse) and highlights from the “Traveling China through Films” program. Students from Lincoln High School performed songs in both Chinese and English, wishing for friendship between China and the U.S.
It has been reported that CMG’s “Spring Festival Gala Prelude” global program will soon take place in countries such as Serbia, Ethiopia, France, New Zealand, Russia, Brazil, Germany, Italy, and Egypt.
