Giridih, February 5: In a significant development, police in Giridih district of Jharkhand have arrested four individuals in connection with the gang rape of two tribal minors that occurred on January 25. Additionally, four other minors involved in the incident have been detained.
During a press conference on Thursday, Superintendent of Police Dr. Bimal Kumar announced the formation of a special investigation team (SIT) due to the severity of the crime. The SIT, which included experienced officers and two trainee DSPs, conducted a thorough investigation based on technical evidence. They apprehended Rajesh Murmu (26) and Ravilal Tudu (23) from Manjhladih village, as well as Sanjay Tudu (21) and Sohan Tudu (23) from Machiyara village in the Dhanbad district.
The minors involved in planning the crime have been detained under the juvenile justice Act. Following the incident, the victims reported to the police; however, they were initially unable to identify the assailants due to darkness. In response, an SIT was established under the leadership of Dumri SDPO Sumit Kumar.
The investigation team meticulously examined the crime scene, surrounding areas, and the local fair. Female police officers engaged with the victims, which led to crucial breakthroughs in the case. It was revealed that one of the victims had met her former boyfriend shortly before the incident. Based on both technical and human intelligence, the police identified the boy, who was found to be a minor.
During questioning conducted in the presence of the Child Protection Department, the minor confessed that he had encouraged eight young men and minors to commit the crime. Following this revelation, police arrested the four adult suspects and detained the four minors. SP Dr. Bimal Kumar stated that these arrests mark a significant step towards justice, assuring that strict legal action will be taken against all involved. He also emphasized that the safety and confidentiality of the victims are being prioritized.
