Noida Police Arrest Notorious Criminal with Illegal Firearm

Noida, February 5: In a significant operation against crime, the Sector 58 police in Noida have successfully apprehended a wanted criminal carrying a reward of ₹25,000. The suspect, identified as Nitin alias Vipin Katheria, had been on the run for an extended period and was actively sought by the police.

According to police officials, the Sector 58 police team acted on manual intelligence and confidential information, leading to the arrest of the accused on February 4 in the Green Belt area of Sector 60, Noida. During the arrest, officers recovered a .315 bore illegal firearm from his possession, prompting the registration of a case under the Arms Act.

Further investigation revealed that Nitin, along with accomplices, had stolen two tractors from the Noida Authority nursery in Sector 60 on April 26, 2025. The stolen tractors included a Mahindra Arjun Yuvo and a Mahindra 265 DI.

In a proactive response, police had already arrested three other suspects linked to the incident. Based on their information, authorities recovered not only the two stolen tractors but also another stolen tractor, a motorcycle, a WagonR car, and an illegal firearm.

Interrogation indicated that the suspects conducted reconnaissance in deserted areas before seizing the opportunity at night to steal tractors.

The main accused, Nitin alias Vipin Katheria, had been evading capture since the incident, leading police to announce a ₹25,000 reward for his arrest. After persistent efforts, he was finally taken into custody.

Nitin, son of Ashok Katheria, resides in Sudama Nagar, Indrapuri, Jalesar Road, North Police Station, Firozabad district, and is approximately 19 years old. He has previous cases registered against him under various sections of the Arms Act at the Sector 58 police station. Authorities stated that further questioning is underway to uncover details about his criminal network.
