Balloon Explosion in Mumbai Lift Injures Two People

Mumbai, February 5: A balloon explosion in a lift at a society in Mumbai has left two individuals injured. The shocking incident was captured on CCTV and has since gone viral on social media.

The incident occurred at Anmol Tower in Goregaon, where a man attempted to transport hydrogen-filled balloons via the lift. A woman was already inside the lift, and another person joined them shortly after.

As the automatic doors began to close, all the balloons suddenly burst, igniting a fire. Fortunately, the three occupants managed to escape the lift quickly. Although the fire was extinguished almost immediately, two people sustained injuries.

The entire event was recorded by the building’s CCTV cameras. The footage shows the three individuals panicking and fleeing the lift after the explosion. Fortunately, none of them suffered serious injuries.

Experts warn that hydrogen gas is highly flammable, and transporting it in enclosed spaces like lifts can be extremely dangerous, posing a significant risk of fire or explosion.

Mumbai police have registered a case against the man involved and have initiated an investigation. Authorities reported that both the male and female victims suffered burns. It remains unclear what type of gas was used in the balloons; while helium balloons are non-flammable, hydrogen-filled balloons are highly combustible.

The video of the incident is spreading rapidly on social media, prompting viewers to advise caution and to keep such balloons away from people.
