Gajraj Rao Raises Alarm Over Indias Deteriorating Heritage Sites

Mumbai, February 5: Actor Gajraj Rao remains connected with his fans through social media. In his latest post, he expressed concern about the ancient heritage of India and emphasized the need for its preservation. He believes that with proper care, these sites can be saved.

Rao stated that immediate action is necessary to protect India’s cultural and historical heritage. Old havelis, palaces, temples, mosques, and other structures are not merely bricks and stones; they are integral to our identity and history. If neglected, future generations will be deprived of the heritage created by their ancestors.

He lamented the conditions in India compared to London, where strict regulations exist for preserving old buildings, along with government support and public awareness. In contrast, many structures in India are either being demolished or left to decay due to neglect. Cities like Gwalior have numerous buildings that could be revitalized with minimal repairs and care.

Rao expressed deep concern for India’s historical heritage, citing London’s approach to maintaining centuries-old buildings as a model. He noted that in London, such structures are treated as heritage and well-preserved, while in India, particularly in Delhi, these buildings are rapidly disappearing into concrete jungles.

He remarked, “London is filled with old buildings that are well cared for and preserved as heritage. However, this is not the case in Delhi, where centuries-old structures are continuously vanishing.”

He also referenced Gwalior, where he observed many buildings that, with a little attention and care, could survive for decades or even centuries.
