Empowering Farmers is Top Priority for Madhya Pradesh Government, Says CM Mohan Yadav

Bhopal, February 5: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated on Wednesday that empowering farmers is the state’s highest priority. He emphasized the government’s commitment to protecting farmers’ interests and increasing their income.

The Chief Minister asserted that the government is determined to ensure that farmers receive the full value of their produce promptly and without any hindrances.

Yadav highlighted that over 51.74 million metric tons of rice were purchased during the Kharif season of 2025-26, showcasing the success of the state’s farmer-centric policies.

To guarantee timely payments to farmers, a technology-based payment system has been implemented. This system ensures that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) is directly deposited into farmers’ bank accounts.

For the current Kharif season, the MSP for common rice has been set at ₹2,369 per quintal, which is ₹69 higher than the previous season’s MSP.

Yadav stated that this increase in MSP is a significant step taken by the state government to ensure fair prices for farmers’ produce.

Last season, the MSP for rice was ₹2,300 per quintal, with a total purchase of 43.2 million metric tons from 669,272 registered rice-producing farmers.

This year, a total of 1,436 purchase centers have been established across the state for rice procurement. Through these centers, 5,174,792 metric tons of rice have been purchased during the season.

Of the purchased rice, over 4,838,637 metric tons have already been transported, with 4,630,021 metric tons accepted after quality testing.

Yadav reported that the total MSP value based on this season’s rice purchases is estimated at ₹12,259 crore, with approximately ₹11,000 crore already transferred directly to farmers’ bank accounts.

He further noted that these purchase payments have provided farmers with strong financial support, enabling them to prepare for the next crop season with greater confidence.

The Chief Minister also mentioned that the state government is continuously monitoring the entire rice procurement process to ensure that farmers face no inconveniences and receive the full benefits of government schemes promptly.
