Controversy Erupts Over Mohammad Deepak in Kotdwar Gym Incident

New Delhi, February 4: Vinod Bansal, the national spokesperson for the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), has made sharp remarks regarding the incident involving gym trainer Deepak Kumar, who identified himself as ‘Mohammad Deepak’ in Kotdwar, Uttarakhand. Bansal labeled this as a new form of ‘Gym Jihad’ and accused it of being a political conspiracy.

In a post on the social media platform X, Bansal questioned, “Has Gym Jihad now started in Kotdwar, Uttarakhand? Now, gym operator Deepak is asserting dominance over the local Hindu community by calling himself ‘Mohammad Deepak’! Until now, only Rahul Gandhi, the grandson of Firoz, had his hand on this self-proclaimed and budding ‘Mohammad’, but now he has support too!”

He further taunted, “If simply adding ‘Mohammad’ to one’s name can make someone a bully, why doesn’t Rahul Gandhi add it to become a hero? A jihadi minister from Jharkhand was so impressed by his intimidation that he announced an honor for him, offering ₹2 lakh from his four-month salary. Is this a new jihadi and secular agenda in Islam?”

Bansal raised questions about why leaders like Asaduddin Owaisi stand with Mohammad Deepak, yet do not adopt Hindu surnames like ‘Ishwar’, ‘Bhagwan’, ‘Singh’, or ‘Sharma’ as examples.

In another post, Bansal accused the opposition of attacking democratic institutions. He wrote, “They have targeted judges, the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, and now seem ready to accuse the Chief Election Commissioner! These people are creating a dangerously negative trend for our democracy. Whenever they attempted impeachment, they have only faced failure, exposing their anti-constitutional mentality.”

He concluded by stating, “Instead of venting their electoral frustrations on the world’s largest democracy and constitutional institutions, our opposition parties should abandon their wrongdoing and adopt the path of righteousness and justice for the public.”
