Zoya Afroz Discusses Religion and Diversity in Film Industry

Mumbai, February 4: Actress Zoya Afroz is currently making headlines for her role in the web series “Tuskari.” Recently, she shared her thoughts on the film industry, emphasizing that religion has never been a barrier for her.

Zoya attended the screening of the silent film “Gandhi Talks,” which features music by the renowned composer A.R. Rahman. During the event, she addressed comments made by Rahman regarding communal issues, firmly stating that despite her religious background, she has not faced any discrimination in the film industry.

“My personal experience has not been such, and I hope it remains that way. In our country, we celebrate unity and diversity. I believe we should always uphold this spirit,” Zoya remarked.

She also expressed her views on the social responsibility of films, stating, “Movies are a reflection of society; they depict life as it is. If a film is not suitable for children, it should not be shown to them. That’s why we have a certification system, and I think it should remain in place.”

Regarding “Gandhi Talks,” the film explores the contrast between Gandhi’s image on currency and the ideals he represented. It follows a young man struggling for money, whose life takes a turn with the entry of a thief, leading to a compelling narrative that questions societal values through satire.

Directed by Kishore Balekar, the film features seasoned actors such as Aditi Rao Hydari, Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swamy, and Siddharth Jadhav in key roles.
