Bihar to Establish Degree Colleges in All Blocks: CM Nitish Kumar

New Delhi, February 4: The Bihar government has made a significant announcement for students. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the decision has been made to open degree colleges in all blocks of the state. This initiative aims to facilitate higher education for students.

CM Nitish Kumar shared details about the establishment of degree colleges, stating that it falls under the fourth resolution of the ‘Seven Resolves-3’ initiative, titled ‘Advanced Education – Bright Future.’ The goal is to provide easier access to higher education, especially for girls.

Currently, out of the 534 blocks in the state, 213 do not have any affiliated or constituent degree colleges. To address this, the government has decided to open degree colleges in all 213 blocks in the first phase. Classes are expected to commence by July 2026. Additionally, the government plans to develop the state’s existing prestigious educational institutions into Centers of Excellence, with a total of 55 institutions selected for this upgrade.

CM Nitish Kumar emphasized the importance of consulting experienced teachers and students from these institutions to guide future actions. He noted that establishing degree colleges in all blocks will significantly ease access to higher education for girls. Furthermore, enhancing the status of prestigious institutions into Centers of Excellence will provide youth with employable education and restore the institutions’ pride, contributing to the state’s overall development.

It is worth mentioning that CM Nitish Kumar’s government presented the budget for the financial year 2026-27 in the Bihar Assembly on Tuesday, with a strong focus on education.
