Shashi Tharoor Sets the Tone Ahead of U.S. Visit, Vows to Champion India’s Stand Against Terrorism

New Delhi/Washington, May 24: As he prepares to lead a multi-nation tour as part of an all-party Indian parliamentary delegation, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor made a strong statement on India’s global mission against terrorism. The senior lawmaker declared that the delegation will serve as a powerful reminder to the international community that India stands firmly for peace, democracy, and justice.

“India Will Not Stay Silent on Terrorism”

In a video message shared ahead of his departure, Tharoor underlined the primary purpose of the tour—to break the global apathy surrounding terrorism. “This mission is not just symbolic. It is a serious diplomatic effort to tell the world we will no longer remain silent when terror strikes our nation,” he said.

Tharoor is leading one of seven Indian delegations set to visit five countries: Guyana, Panama, Colombia, Brazil, and the United States. These visits come in the wake of Operation Sindoor, a campaign India launched to expose the global threat of terrorism and Pakistan’s alleged involvement in cross-border militancy.

India’s Moral Position on the Global Stage

“The world needs to be reminded of the values India upholds—peace, justice, and democracy,” said Tharoor, adding that the delegation would speak “with conviction and unity on behalf of the nation.” He emphasized that India’s message will be clear: the global community cannot afford to overlook the growing threat of terrorism.

The Congress MP also criticized what he described as the indifference of the international community to India’s concerns, saying, “We do not want indifference to prevail over truth. This mission will make it clear that India stands on the right side of history.”

Bipartisan Support, National Interest First

In a rare show of unity, Tharoor’s inclusion in the delegation was endorsed by the central government despite Congress not officially nominating him. His leadership of the delegation indicates a bipartisan approach to one of India’s most pressing foreign policy challenges—internationalising its fight against terrorism.

“This is not about political lines; it’s about national interest,” said Tharoor. “The world should know that India is united in its message and mission.”

A Mission for Global Awareness

Tharoor concluded by stating, “This is a mission that, one day, will remind the world that India stood for the right values—not for terror, hatred, or bloodshed, but for peace, democracy, and liberty.”

As the delegation begins its journey across five nations, India’s message is expected to resonate through diplomatic channels, policy forums, and media platforms—reasserting its position as a responsible global democracy standing strong against terrorism.
